Samsung Galaxy Watch 4: Ultimate Health & Fitness Review

In this video I put the SAMSUNG Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic through its paces. I tracked runs, brisk walks, bike rides, workouts, even a hike in upstate New York. And I compared it to a variety of devices, the Apple Watch Series 6 and Garmin’s Forerunner 745. I also compared its Body Composition tool vs the WiThings Scale and InBody’s $6000 machine. And the results may surprise you.Does Android finally have the smartwatch it deserves?

  1. Is the touch sensitivity really a big issue? I've been wanting to buy it but I'm hesitant because of the "insensitivity" of the screen especially when your fingers are moist from a workout and etc.

  2. Is it possible to start a Workout on my Galaxy Watch 4 and display the live data on my Smartphone Galaxy S21 at the same time?

As I am riding on a bike it would be nice to be able to observe my heart rate etc on my phone while my watch measures it.

  3. Great review. Charging twice a day is a deal breaker for me. My little fitbit charge has fewer features but does the important stuff and goes days without charging.

  4. I get the new galaxy phones but with watches, I get a the model that's a couple years old to be frugal. I'll be getting this one soon. Thanks for the review

  5. For galaxy watch 4, and samsung phone user.
do you can link your samsumg heath app to your phone even when the phone is away, I mean you can you just go workout without your phone and then go back to your phone and can all the new data that collected when the phone is away to the phone and update to samsung health app in phone. Sorry for a long question.

  6. This is the first Fitbit I have used. It has some new features https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkxbkrje8Y7BaqRkAjimw-55ajvVo7RbcIp and I like the information that it gives me.I think the phone app could be designed to be a bit more accommodating, as it can be confusing to use. The rubber band is comfortable, and normally I do not like rubber bands for my watches, but this is comfortable.I am looking forward to seeing if this helps me stay accountable in my fitness endeavors! My only gripe is the box was very damaged when it arrived, however, the tracker is performing perfectly!

  7. Strava doesn't notify you of distance intervals any more. It did on my frontier but not on my gw4. I'm gonna try to use the Samsung health app to track and transfer the data to Strava.

  8. As of 2023, the Watch 4 Classic can at least track reps and sets for some exercises. The ones I've tested are:
    – crunches
    – back extensions
    – bench press
    – deadlift
    – squats
    – curls
    – tricep extensions
    – lateral raises
    – lat pulldowns
It's not a lot, but at least for some of these workouts, it'll detect variations as the same thing. For example, it'll count a standing cable press-down, a standing overhead ez-bar extension, and a lying skullcrusher all as "triceps extensions." Same with deadlifts: standard deadlifts, sumos, RDLs, kettlebell deadlifts, will all tick reps for "deadlifts."
The only exercise that seems a bit finicky are bench presses; it'll count flat bench bar/dumbbell and incline bar/dumbbell, but it doesn't like seated machine presses. It won't even start the workout.
Outside of that, the only other problem I see is that while it'll track reps and sets, it won't track weights. You'll have to leave a note on each exercise what weights you used, after the fact. And it won't be quantified in any sort of manner the way Garmin Connect does.
That said, it's still a far better option than Google Fit or Huawei Health. Those two are just for cardio.

PS, you'll find an option for "circuit training" which I think covers HIIT.

  9. Now, a long time after your review I'm flabbergasted by Samsung's inability to utilize the power of their own spectacular watch. The good stuff HRM, ECG and Body Composition. The workout part on the other hand…. they can track a walk, but just about everything else is created by people who have never worked out in their life. Abysmal stuff. The workout app includes squats without enabling adding weights!! Then their app suggested I add a Tabata workout (that's 20 seconds of work interval, 10 sec of rest) except the watch can't time below 30s intervals!! WHY do they suggest the exercise if it can't be measured?! Then I went long distance skating, and I can only get calories burned, which I don't F care about. I want to know speed, distance, and location. The watch is immensely powerful, does maps and GPS, and all sensor galore but Samsung and their Galaxy Watch management cannot connect the dots! What is this, Samsung doing a cosplay of Google doing Wear OS all over again? Samsung & Google won't release access to the sensors necessary so no 3rd party supplier will be able to cover Samsung's ass.
