The adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing swiftly across the globe, with many asserting that AI will shape the future. In light of this, the Punjab Government has initiated a programme to provide foundational knowledge of AI to students in its government schools, known as the ‘School of Eminence’.

AI lab is being established

The Government of Punjab – led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Khan – is also establishing a lab to teach AI to students in schools. This lab is being built in Mohali where class 11-12 students will be taught about this technology.

Punjab Govt reformed education sector

Teachers are being trained

The Punjab Government’s ‘School of Eminence’ initiative is set to rival private educational institutions. To improve educational standards, teachers and school principals are being sent to Finland and Singapore for training. This program seeks to equip educators with modern technology, which will ultimately benefit the students.

Preparing students for JEE and NEET

The Punjab government is improving the education system from primary to higher secondary levels and preparing students for competitive exams like NEET and JEE. There is also a significant focus on building students’ confidence.

The Chief Minister of Punjab has remarked that students from government schools were once perceived as less competent than their counterparts in convent schools. However, with the launch of the ‘School of Eminence’, government schools now offer facilities comparable to those in private institutions. Furthermore, there are ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education to align with that of private schools. The creation of an AI lab within the ‘School of Eminence’ is a major initiative by the Punjab government, which is expected to provide significant benefits for students across the state.
