The Galaxy Watch Ultra is both great and disappointing at the same time, at least based on my testing. I tested the heart rate tracking during 76 workouts, the sleep stage tracking for 22 nights and the GPS during 20 bike rides. Oh, and I also tested the blood pressure feature. All of this has left me with mixed feelings on the Galaxy Watch Ultra. As you will see, it does quite well in some areas, but it disappoints in others. Ow, and I will try the new FTP feature with the Galaxy Watch Ultra at the end of this video, but let’s start off by looking at the heart rate tracking performance!

I don’t know about you, but these results confuse me a bit. I’m not surprised that the Galaxy Watch didn’t perform well for weight lifting, almost no device does. What surprises me is that it does relatively well for cycling outside, but in turn doesn’t do very well for indoor cycling. I need to be clear here, the correlations for indoor cycling were very similar to those for outdoor cycling, it’s just that almost all watches have a much higher correlation for indoor cycling than for outdoor cycling, whereas the Galaxy Watch Ultra shows no real difference.

Samsung Galaxy A53 Test Fazit nach einer Woche

To be clear, to get your FTP you need a power meter, which is likely only true for a small percentage of people getting the Galaxy Watch Ultra. And I expect that anyone who is going to invest in a power meter is fine doing a 20-minute test or ramp test. Still, it is nice Samsung tries to include this feature. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is not a bad watch, and if you want to use it for outdoor activities, it might be a good choice. However, it does have its issues. I was disappointed with the heart rate tracking performance for indoor cycling and weight lifting, and I have some doubts about the reliability of some of the extra health metrics like blood pressure and body composition analysis. I do suspect that if you have less extreme intervals for indoor cycling, that the performance of the Galaxy Watch might be better, and in general I recommend checking out other reviewer’s results as well. If you do decide to get a Galaxy Watch Ultra, a Whoop Strap, an Oura Ring, an Eight Sleep Pod 4, another device or anything at all on Amazon for that matter, even something as small as toilet paper, want to potentially save some money and at the same time support the channel, there are different affiliate and non-affiliate links in the description below that do not cost you any extra and some even provide a discount. Given that you watched this whole video on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, check out this video on the new Galaxy Ring, or this video on my top recommendations for sleep tracking. Thank you so much for watching, and catch you in the next video!

  1. Can you quit using that dedicated mic so close to your mouth… The misophonia is killing me… Use a declicker to edit out those breathing and mouth noises please 😢… Use a mic that don't fuck everybody's mind… 😭😭😭😭😭😭

  2. When I look at the results, I see the watch ultra have better results than a Garmin 965 that is in the same price, but without the LTE connection. Ok the autonomy of the Garmin wins, but then there are + and – for each.

  3. I think now he's busy on rich people's watch.
Mi band is the best band on reasonable price for which I was waiting his opinion but he hasn't done review though it has been more than two month the watch arrived.

  4. i had fitbit inspire 3, and find it has a very poor HR following during hIIT type of sports, it misses the peak, and also would stop detecting my HR, sometimes, I feel really out of breath, but it only shows 90 on the device. trust this channel , and bought a Galaxy watch 2, couldnt be happier, the HR is so good, best for android devices, now i can tell whenever I feel out of breath, it is howing 180 on my watch!

  5. Body composition IS EXTREMELY ACCURATE!! It has been known to be 98% accurate with the dexa that real expensive one you have to pay for to get your body fat percentage.

And one thing you guys don't realize about any of these electron BODY COMPOSITION THINGS!! They are not designed TO DO THE BODY COMPOSITION OF TRUE ATHLETES WITH LOTS OF MUSCLE!! They even say that in the disclosure. You might get inaccurate readings if you have lots of muscle or you're an athlete..

So you don't pay attention to the body fat part too much.. For instance I know my body fat as an athlete using the pinch method three different sites is 10%. My watch constantly tells me I'm 18.. You think that's not accurate right?

But if you look at the body composition closely it says my water IS VERY HIGH, AND MY MUSCLE MASS IS VERY HIGH!! That's why you have an inaccurate reading in body fat because your muscles somewhere around 80% water, and then obviously you could see that it shows you of tons of skeletal muscle!!

So if you're an athlete you use the body composition don't pay attention to the fat too much. pay more attention to the body water and the muscle skeletal.. muscle mass. It does a really accurate job to show how much of your body is actually that.. if those are very high it means you have a high muscle mass..

And then if you're an DO NOT USE ANY ELECTRONIC DEVICE THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BE ACCURATE!! Mostly use your chest strap, if you lift weights, and absolutely FOR YOUR BODY FAT DO THE PINCH METHOD!! There's a seven site method and a three-site method!! Use calipers it'll be the most accurate way if you're an athlete!!

    Piece out

  6. Strange. I have been testing a 40mm galaxy watch 7 versus an AW 9 41mm and both the sleep tracking and heart rates have been very close. If anything, I think the Galaxy watch is more accurate with the step count while I think the AW 9's SPO2 has been more accurate.

  7. I don't know what it is with this guy but I've seen tons of videos THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE!! I don't know if it's his body type, composition or whatever it just doesn't work well with him. OR IF HE'S AN APPLE FANBOY!! He's doing something wrong or on purpose!!

Mine is ridiculously accurate compared to my polar heartstrap monitor I wear them both.
